These pieces are watercolor on paper with lines traced gel pen, mimicking geographic notation as well as digital overlays. The works interpret a blend of an artificial view on top of a representation of the physical world — symbols on top of shapes, interpretation on representation. Maps bridge a space between reality and imagination - imaginary landscapes, mapped meticulously with cartographic notations, ingraining their shapes into reality. By meticulously charting the contours of these abstract experiences, they become real and navigable. Through the practice of tracing the depths and heights of these watercolor paintings with gel pen and watercolor, I was able to explore internal emotional landscapes of my own.
